The adoptee must request their original records from the Clerk of the District Court in the county where the adoption occurred. An adoptee is able to request their post-adoption birth certificate. Proof of identity is required. The records are not open to descendents of an adoptee. To obtain original birth certificates, they must be opened with a court order at the request of the adult adoptee. The adoptee must also submit a written notarized request. The fee for this birth certificate is $12. Check or money order may be made payable to "Kansas Vital Statistics." |
