Adopted adults or birth parents, if it is the adoption agency's policy, may obtain non-identifying information. Adopted adults may also petition the court to view their medical and family history.

Identifying information may be obtained through the Adoption Registry and confidential intermediary system. Adopted adults, 21 or older, and birth parents may apply to the Director of Social Services Administration to use the search, contact and reunion services.

Adopted adults, age 21 or older, birth parents, and birth siblings, age 21 or older, may register.

To obtain an original birth certificate, the adoptee may petition the court in which the adoption was finalized after July 1, 1947 and prior to January 1, 2000. If adoptions took place after January 1, 2000, adopted adults, 21 or older, may receive their original birth certificate and report of decree or judgment of adoption. If the birth parents have filed a disclosure veto, their information is deleted. Birth parents of an adopted adult may receive a copy of the altered birth certificate and report of decree or judgment. If the adopted adult files a disclosure veto, their identifying information is deleted. For adoptions that were finalized prior to July 1, 1947, an adopted adult may receive their original birth certificate.
