Adopted adults can also petition the court. An adopted adult may receive the original birth certificate if the biological parents consented. If either birth parent has information on a genetically transmittable disease or illness, they can notify the agency who may then contact the adult adoptee, 21 or older, or the adoptive parents for a minor child. If the adopted adult has acquired or may have information on a genetic disease or illness, they may contact the agency to contact the birth parents. |
