Identifying information is provided through a confidential intermediary system. This information may be petitioned through the court through this system. For adoptions that occurred before July 1, 1967, an adult adoptee may receive a copy of their original birth certificate through a written request. For adoptions that occurred between July 1, 1967 and September 30, 1997, an adopted adult will require a court order to obtain an original birth certificate. For adoptions that took place on or after October 1, 1997, the adopted adult may receive a copy of the birth certificate unless the biological parents have filed an access veto. |
