Adopted adults, 18 and older, may receive information regarding their birth parents, if they have filed a consent form. Birth siblings may receive information regarding an adopted adult if the adopted adult files a consent form. Adopted adults, adoptive parents of a minor child, birth parents, and birth siblings may petition the court to hire a confidentiary intermediary. If the person being contacted is deceased or cannot be found, the court will then decide whether or not to open the file and release identifying information. To obtain an original birth certificate, the adoptee must petition the court where the adoption was finalized. |
